  • The new 13 -inch "MacBook Pro" is excellent, but not all are "rose colors": Product Review

The new 13 -inch "MacBook Pro" is excellent, but not all are "rose colors": Product Review

The last five years have been a tough time for Apple's laptops. All problems began with the butterfly keyboard introduced in 2015.

The introduction of this keyboard was Apple's challenge to make the "MacBook" slim and make it easier to carry. However, because of the too fragile structure, just a small dust could make one key completely bad.

Later, Apple changed the design several times, but MacBook's reputation was already worse. The consumer trust was impaired because of the "defective" keyboard, and some collective lawsuits occurred. Moreover, Apple's correction was more like symptomatic treatment than a solution.

But that's the past.In the new 13 -inch version of "MacBook Pro", the problem of the butterfly keyboard has finally been "eradicated".

As a matter of fact, Apple abolished the butterfly structure each time a new MacBook was released, and the launch of this model has completely finished selling a notebook PC that adopted the butterfly keyboard. And the last model, which was renewed in the MacBook series, was the most personal favorite, like the porridge tasted by the hero in the fairy tale "Gordylox and the three Kuma".

新型の13インチ「MacBook Pro」は優れているが、すべてが“バラ色”というわけではない:製品レヴュー

Roughly divided into two models

The 13 -inch model is as bulky as a 16 -inch "MacBook Pro" and has a higher processing power than "MacBook Air" (and there are many ports). But not all of the latest MacBook Pro is rose color. The battery is just barely passed, and aluminum body often gets hot.And it is quite expensive to gain real practicality.

The composition of this model is a bit complicated, so you have to scrutinize it properly. The 13 -inch version of "MacBook Pro" has two main versions. It is a model with two USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) ports ($ 1,299, 134,800 yen in Japan) and a model with four ports ($ 1,799, $ 188,800).

The difference between the two is not just the number of ports. The cheaper model is equipped with a 256GB storage (512GB for the top model), and the performance of the graphic card is slightly inferior. The low -priced model is Intel's "IRIS PLUS GRAPHICS 645" and the high -priced model is "IRIS PLUS GRAPHICS G7", but it is still a confusing name.

And the low -priced model has a slow RAM speed and a small capacity (8GB, 2,133MHz, LPDDR3 memory. The high price model is 16GB, 3,733MHz, LPDDR4X memory). The most important thing is that the low -priced model remains the 8th generation Intel processor, while the high -priced model adopts the latest 10th generation chips. The fact that the price of the base model is close to the "MacBook Air" also causes you to decide which version to buy.

Is it a higher model of AIR or a low -priced model of PRO?

Let me tell you the helpful information of that choice. If you want an Apple notebook PC, which is mainly surfing online, you should buy a "MacBook Air" base model ($ 999, 104,800 yen in Japan). If you need a little more power to open some browser tabs at work, we recommend the basic model ($ 1,299, 134,800 yen) for "MacBook Pro".
